Our Director, Ben Clay, has twenty years’ experience in the financial services industry. In 2021, he achieved the Chartered Scroll, and more recently, he received Top Rated status in the VouchedFor 2022, 2023 and 2024 Top Rated Financial Adviser Guide. We share Ben’s story so far...
Ben has a family background in financial services. His father worked for an old-fashioned insurance firm. Ben vividly remembers an occasion as a boy when he attended a celebration of his father’s firm’s 125th year in business (he still has the commemorative pen!). Ben’s aunt worked her way up from being a cleaner to becoming Head of Mortgages for a financial firm. Inspired by his aunt’s career progression, Ben later joined the same firm’s branch network.
Over the years, Ben worked for various banks, including Lloyds and Yorkshire Bank, where he received on-the-job training as a Mortgage Adviser. He developed a keen interest in helping people buy homes. It was Ben’s move to working for Secure Trust Banks that led him to become a Financial Adviser. After two years he was named ’top producer’ and he then left to work with a colleague, who had formed his own firm.
Ben went on to start his own business, continually training and gaining qualifications to become a Chartered Financial Adviser. This shows his commitment to providing the highest standard of advice, service and support to our clients.
Ben specialises in financial, estate and legacy planning, and his wide focus on how our clients can achieve their objectives is not limited by factors such as age.
Ben says, ‘My ethos is to do the right thing at the right time for the right reason. I strongly believe in lifelong learning because the more I learn, the more ways I can help my clients.’
Ben will help you identify what money you need now and what you want to leave behind. He uses his technical expertise in terms of cash-flow modelling tools, while gaining a full understanding of your beliefs and values. He will ask questions such as ‘What are the biggest influences on your money? and ‘What are your biggest assets?’
Working closely with his clients, Ben will build a wealth plan to help them manage their money as efficiently as possible. Another way Ben ensures continuity with his clients is by encouraging connections between individuals and businesses, which leads to wider opportunities for everyone. This aligns to one of our values - Community.
By creating a virtuous circle where people can connect and help each other, this in turn supports our client’s objectives. If you want to find out more, please see Ben’s profile.
